Only Lehigh Valley Summer Camp to Earn ACA Accreditation Status
ALLENTOWN, PA – The American Camp Association® (ACA) announced today that Camp JCC at the Jewish Community Center of the Lehigh Valley has received ACA-Accredited® Camp status. Camp JCC is the only camp in the Lehigh Valley to currently hold this status.
"ACA accreditation means that Camp JCC submitted to a thorough review (up to 266 standards) of its operation by the American Camp Association (ACA) — from staff qualifications and training to emergency management — and complied with the highest standards in the industry," said Interim ACA President and CEO Henry DeHart.
"Parents expect their children to attend accredited schools. They also deserve a camp experience that is reviewed and accredited by an independent organization," DeHart said.
"Camp JCC and ACA form a partnership that promotes summers of growth and fun in an environment committed to safety," said Eric Lightman, the Jewish Community Center’s executive director. "ACA accreditation demonstrates our commitment to quality camp programming."
Camp JCC was founded in 1931 and is located in Allentown, Pa. Camp registration opens for Summer 2025 on January 22, 2025 and offers full-day traditional day camp experiences, along with specialty camps. The Summer 2025 season runs from June 16, 2025 through August 22, 2025, with program options offered five days a week from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Camp JCC is open to all regardless of religion or background. In alignment with the JCC’s mission and values, children are taught about kindness, community, repairing the earth and to appreciate our connection to others around the world in a way that accepts and embraces diversity. For more information, parents can contact the camp at 610.435.3571 or visit the camp's website at www.lvjcc.org/camp.
ACA is the only independent accrediting organization reviewing camp operations in the country. ACA's nationally recognized standards program focuses primarily on the program quality, health and safety aspects of a camp's operation. ACA collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation.
