The Allentown Rescue Mission’s Clean Team Workforce May Employee of the Month

Picture
(ALLENTOWN, PA) – The Allentown Rescue Mission’s Clean Team Workforce congratulates its Employee of the Month for May, Dwight S. Dwight worked in shipping and receiving for a company in Tamaqua, PA for over 20 years. Unfortunately, he was among many employees laid off indefinitely due to the economic downturn from the pandemic. Then in 2021, Dwight’s mother passed away. He inherited the house but could not maintain homeowner’s insurance without a job. As fate would have it, in October of 2023, a fire engulfed Dwight’s home. Without insurance, he lost everything. He received help from the Red Cross and found refuge at several local shelters, but eventually ended up at the Allentown Rescue Mission. While staying in the Emergency Shelter, Dwight learned about the Mission’s two other programs. He joined the Transformation Program so he could take classes to learn new skills and then after graduation be eligible to work for the Clean Team Workforce. Dwight had not been exposed to religion most of his life, but he was interested in learning about God and the Bible. He also couldn’t wait to start working, save money, and rebuild his life. Dwight graduated from the Transformation Program on April 26, 2024, and started working on the Clean Team Workforce the following Monday. He has been working hard on landscaping jobs, but his goal is to return to warehousing. He is a good worker and performs the job to the best of his ability every day. Dwight hopes that he will be able to find a job and move back to the Tamaqua area. Good luck, Dwight, and thank you for your hard work.
