(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he has signed an executive order (Executive Order No. 25-1) declaring Thursday, January 9, 2025, a Day of Remembrance in Connecticut in honor of the life and service of President Jimmy Carter.
Additionally, the executive order requests all Connecticut residents to participate in a statewide minute of silence on Thursday at 10:00 a.m., which is the same time that President Carter’s funeral is scheduled to commence at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Governor Lamont is specifically asking state and local government offices, schools, and higher education institutions to observe the minute of silence.
President Joe Biden has declared Thursday a National Day of Morning throughout the United States.
