Complete holiday experience for everyone
Important Note: Please scroll down, listen to full video review. Check out photos / video for a small example.
Illumination is one event I could not wait to experience!!!!!! Found out about it from the Coca-Cola Park in September (I think). After checking the website, immediately jumped to top of my holiday list. Far exceeded any expectations I had. It is a true and complete holiday experience, with a serious bonus.
After Thanksgiving, advance ticket price is $13, will drop that in a heartbeat to experience Illumination again, very serious. Where to start....
Walking in, you don't know where to look first, entire ballpark is covered in lights / displays including seats. Going through main entrance, you see firepits / a large tree with white lights (Hotel Bethlehem sponsored explains it). If you go left, it reminded me of Christmas Village / Love Park (Philadelphia). One corner has indoor rotunda with a Festival of Trees. At Coca-Cola Park you walk through a Festival of Trees. Pay close attention to each one / check out the sponsor. Going for short version of review here.
Illumination offers so much to enhance / complete the true holiday experience, with a modern twist. Selfie trail takes you around the ballpark for the full experience. Photos with Santa and Elsa / swings / warming tent / food and beverages / train ride and much more. Back to the serious bonus part...
You can walk the dirt track around the field. Making this a very immersive experience. Speaking with couple they agreed with me: You feel a part of Illumination vs. just looking at everything. Final, major, point here, prices (food / beverages): Coca-Cola Park did not raise prices beyond an Ironpigs game. In other words, you don't have to bring a paycheck to feed the family. Between admission and food / beverages, they want you to enjoy every aspect vs. worrying about how to afford it.
Arrived around 6:05 and left at 8:45. Planned on about 1 to 1 1/2 hours there. Very seriously can't wait to go back!!!!! I am looking forward to how it will evolve, only suggestions: ice skating / larger area for vendors.
Forget about that pathetic joke, obscenely lack of Christmas City Bethlehem. Definitely and seriously cross Christkindlmarkt (Bethlehem) off your list (experience several years on both). Illumination is THE place to go for the holidays / Lehigh Valley!!!!! Even though you should bring the kids, expect all ages to have an excellent time. For the adults: Illumination holiday cocktail is one of THE best I have ever had.
