Coca-Cola Park goes all out for events like this. Very special Thank You to everyone for making Liberty Ignited a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
After spending July 3 in Philadelphia (mainly Independence Hall area). Liberty Ignited was the PERFECT way to end the day. Walking around ballpark, felt like I was still in Philadelphia. People dressed like colonial days was only the start. Several surprises were waiting throughout the evening; including one nature provided.
Get a photo taken with a holographic, talking, Ben Franklin. Sign a copy of the Declaration of Independence. Learn more on this country's history, especially role Lehigh Valley played in colonial times. Walk in, have photo taken with a Liberty Bell replica. All this before ceremonies even started.
A ballpark packed with people went silent a few times during the ceremonies. National Anthem (of course) / honoring the military / honoring first responders. You could feel the pure respect / reverence during these moments. I still get a chill remembering it.
One of the main surprises: members of the Lenape Tribe performed 2 songs. Reminding us of how important Native Americans were to the founding / evolution of this country. Seriously, it was wild to experience. That thing about nature occurred at this part. A fast moving, severe, thunderstorm hit. Ballpark, thankfully, did not receive a direct shot. I don't believe in diving intervention. The timing was perfect. A rainbow appeared over Coca-Cola Park during the tribe's performance. Again, serious chills while typing.
Sunset? What everyone was waiting for. Drone show did not disappoint in the slightest. Timed with music / songs, it was wild to experience shifting shapes. Fireworks were typical Coca-Cola Park holiday style: Bright and loud! Finale people were covering their ears. Glad I grew up in an era of extremely loud music. Scroll down for all video / photos. Combining Philadelphia with Liberty Ignited almost made the 4th a little anti-climactic, seriously. Honestly, it was the perfect way to spend the holiday weekend. Best one I had in a very long time...
