Cold winds didn't stop people from showing up for Parade of Shamrocks 2026. Bethlehem always has a great turn out for both parades (Halloween). Not disappointing anyone, this year was a more direct / to the point version. In other words, shorter than usual.
Normally around 8 - 10 divisions 1 1/2 - 2 hours long, 2026 ran around the 45-minute mark. Can't speak for others, this was actually welcome on my end! Wind gusts down West Broad made doing photos / videos a little challenging, especially without gloves. Parade had a great balance of all aspects.
Just enough bands (school / bagpipe), vehicles, people marching kept your attention. The "Ok, what is coming up" factor was high. Seriously have to mention: a lot of our k-9 friends were happily showing off, especially the green / Irish side!!!!
Quick (and important) tip: When you attend a parade in Bethlehem, arrive early, very serious. Normally most of parade route is packed with people 1/2 hour before start time. Wind / cold changed that to around 10 - 15-minute mark. I always go for corner of West Broad / Main. Great photos / videos coming down the hill.
I have covered several parades in Philadelphia and 1 in NYC (Japan parade). Bethlehem seriously ranks with the big city parades in every aspect. Giving you a small town feel from shops on / around Main St.
