CHEYENNE, WY—U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman (WY) today declared her candidacy for the Wyoming U.S. Senate seat currently held by Sen. Cynthia Lummis, who has announced her retirement after a long and distinguished career in public service. Hageman, first elected to the House as the state’s lone representative in 2022, thanked Lummis for her dedication and leadership, and pledged to carry on the fight for conservative ideals and the protection of Wyomingites’ natural rights and liberties.

Hageman has for decades been on the front lines of protecting the individual and property rights of law-abiding citizens, currently as a member of the House of Representatives and previously in her career as a Constitutional attorney. She has fought against the insatiable federal government and its unelected bureaucrats as they attempt to interfere in the daily lives of our citizens. She will continue to do the same in the U.S. Senate.

“Cynthia Lummis leaves a legacy of over four decades of principled, conservative leadership, and Wyoming and America are better for it,” Hageman said. “I thank her for her distinguished and admirable service, and pledge to also bring honor to the office she held, should the people of Wyoming make the decision to elect me to the United States Senate. In the House, as I did in my private law practice, I have fought every day for the Constitutional rights of every individual citizen and to protect the sovereignty of this nation. As I announce my candidacy to continue to represent Wyoming, now as a United States Senator, I humbly ask the voters for their support.”

Hageman, whose campaign can be found online at HagemanforWyoming.com, was elected to the House of Representatives in November 2022 with 69.8 percent of the vote and re-elected in 2024 with 71 percent. She is a fourth-generation Wyomingite who was raised on her family ranch outside of Fort Laramie, which is where she learned the value of hard work, honesty, and fighting for what you believe.

“My father started his education in a one-room schoolhouse, and my mother is now 102 years old, so to say that they saw amazing advances in technology and prosperity in the world would be an understatement,” Hageman said. “We have to make sure that we continue to advance, which is why I will always defend Wyoming’s ability to access, manage and use our natural resources to fuel our economy. We must ensure that Wyoming remains a leader in energy and food production to help us maintain our way of life.”

Hageman has been a strong supporter of President Donald Trump, who endorsed her in both of her campaigns for the House. She has been a champion of his successful efforts to restore order and control at the border and to identify, arrest, and deport criminal illegal aliens from our communities. She has also fought to keep taxes low and will always support making the Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent, because it provided the most tax relief to the most taxpayers in American history and sent the economy soaring. Hageman supports the Trump energy agenda, which includes accessing our own resources to return Wyoming and America to their rightful places as world leaders in energy production.

“President Trump’s America First movement made it popular to say you want to Make America Great Again, and he continues to deliver on that promise,” Hageman said. “It would be a great honor to keep advancing the America First agenda in the Senate, as it has been in the House, because we still have a lot of work to do in fighting for Wyoming, where we stand for our faith, family, community, and country.”

Hageman has been an active as a leader in the Western Caucus, a coalition of Republican lawmakers from western states in both chambers of Congress. Hageman has helped guide the caucus into firm stances on the priorities of the West: defending private landowners, supporting responsible energy development on federal lands, advocating for our agricultural industry, and pushing for practical regulations that safeguard our natural resources while also ensuring that our region’s economy remains strong.

Hageman attended Casper College and earned her B.S. in Business Management and her Law Degree from the University of Wyoming. She built a successful career as a water and property rights attorney and constitutional advocate while consistently pushing for regulatory reform
