reminding us about the heart / spirit of new york fashion week
Covering The Bureau's New York Fashion Week shows for the first time, honestly, didn't know what to expect. The Bureau realizes NYFW is about the designers / models / runway. In other words, a direct approach to each show and experience.
Yes, there was a red carpet, excellent vendors, especially one having baked goods... The Bureau realizes everyone was there for the runway. Hey, I love a great overall experience with any event. Focusing on the basics, what any fashion show / week is about, The Bureau elevates the overall experience. Add in Gotham Hall, creating an entire reality separate from the outside world.
Lighting, music, runway are some main factors of how the effect was achieved. Realize overstating the obvious here. Hard to describe, during each show, all attention / focus was on runway. Anticipation of each designer and their creations. Applause / cheers not only at the runway walk, also while models walking the runway.
During the shows, a few surprises. Lights up, nothing on screens, speaking with a photographer, thought show was over. Model starts walking the runway.
Security: The Bureau takes this very seriously. A huge aspect of any event for me. One aspect that was not even a thought during each show. Maintaining a low profile, not interfering with any part of the experience.
The Bureau understands what is and always will be the heart / lifeblood of any fashion week. Yes, there is more than runway / designers / models to the experience. More you add, less important those aspects become. Especially after noticing some social media posts about everything but the runway. The Bureau truly excels at highlighting importance of the basics. Don't get me wrong, I can only imagine the complexity of planning / behind the scenes of each show. Light shows and illusions? Great escapes. Sometimes, we need to be reminded of the beauty in simplicity.
Very special Thank You to everyone (models / staff / designers / behind the scenes / security / vendors / crowd / photographers) involved with each show. You make every show a unique experience! Scroll down for video review / photos / videos!
