had to keep thinking...
I am standing on a street in NYC watching people live across the Atlantic. I know in our modern, hi-tech world this may not be a big deal to you. The Portal is something you seriously have to experience. Conversation with a father visiting from Tennessee agreed. It is wild to view people across an ocean while they are looking at you simultaneously in real time. Wish I could have been there before a few changes were made.
In case you missed some headlines, there was a problem with "inappropriate behavior" at the Portal. Honestly, a good balance was found. Limit the hours / security guard. Just in case you have a few questions, reps are on site and very friendly. They could use some bigger signage. Even with Google Maps and know Madison Square Park very well, walked right past the Portal initially. Even on Saturday, crowd was not that big, thankfully.
The Portal is the most unique / interesting artistic creation I have experienced. Yes, it is an art installation. Stand there for a few moments. Observe the people around you. Look at everyone in Dublin looking at you. Think about how connected we are. Regardless of geographic location or any other factor.
