Highlighting excellent games from indie developers, Tribeca Festival Games Gallery had something for almost everyone.

Pier 57 Living Room provided a perfect venue. Little Island pier / Hudson River in background on a hot, late spring day. Attracting not only those attending the festival, but anyone walking by. Plus, seating / well-planned layout gave a nice break from your day. Everything was spaced so you could move around. The gallery did not interfere with people walking by. Placing it between food and educational areas made perfect sense. Added benefit: you could explore a beautiful part of New York City!

Need to seriously highlight the amount of Tribeca staff helping people out, especially with a technical issue.

In addition to trying new / exciting games, Saturday, some of the designers / people involved with each game were available to answer questions or receive feedback. I had a few, always curious about the Behind the Scenes.

Game variety:
Games Gallery and creators not only gave a glimpse of future of gaming. They also honored history of video gaming. I date back to the prehistoric era: Atari 2600 and pinball. Rock Beasts reminded me of Windows 95 even 3.1 days. Drifted was completely different, especially with overall concept. There are No Ghosts at the Grand had a high suspense / scare level without the blood fest of games like Resident Evil. Kidbash honored the original Nintendo / Sega years. Rebounder? For some weird reason: Metroid.

Completely honest: I couldn't wait to check out Tribeca Games Gallery. Completely different side of Tribeca Festival, something interactive vs. watching films (no offense to anyone) / listening to speakers, you get the idea. Taking the festival to new levels which I always look for. In case you are curious: planned on 1 hour / actual: over 2 hours. Gaming side of Tribeca Festival is an aspect seriously needed, including other festivals / events / even art galleries. Interactivity, not only with games, but those involved with their creation. Providing a relaxing, social environment and escape from life. Reminding us to slow down, maybe try something new. A disconnect from the world while not completely escaping it.
