6abc action news / dunkin'
Perfect kickoff to a great Thanksgiving Day! Grew up watching the parade on TV. Being there, especially in warmer weather, no comparison. Due to bus schedule, missed start of parade. No big deal, 6ABC / Dunkin' / volunteers / everyone in parade / crowd did not disappoint. Before I forget: Very special Thank You to volunteers / Philadelphia Police Department / security.
Thanksgiving Day Parade is a serious tradition. One woman let me know it is 25 years for her family. A volunteer surprised me: 30 years!
Great balance of bands / floats / surprises: people on very old bicycles / Mr. Potato Head on a gingerbread house (see photos). Eagles Cheerleaders really had the crowd going. C&C Music Factory had me rocking! Of course, Santa / Mrs. Claus at the end. Yes, I did wish them a Merry Christmas (think it is on one of the videos).
Large crowd gathered for the parade. They were spread out over the route. Getting close to Museum of Art, several rows deep. Most of the route parade visibility not a problem (scroll down: photos / videos).
During the parade: though about if it was right decision. Travel to Philadelphia / cover parade, Christmas Village, Winter Garden, Light Show / have a great holiday. Or... stay in Allentown / get a lot of work done / Hallmark Holiday Movies / avoid getting depressed (long story). 1/10th of a second for to verify I made the right choice!
