Daring us to search the darkness in our world / society / ourselves and find the truth. Welcome to a much needed darker edge to Musikfest.
Quick criteria run-down: Band / Musician name caught my attention. Checked description, caught my attention. If Philadelphia / New York, original, indie rock were in bio, jumped to top of list. 49 Burning Condors easily filled that criteria. When I saw the electric violin with electric / bass guitars and drums, this one will be a wild experience! They did not disappoint.
The entire show, opening line is what I felt especially on instrumentals. Without realizing it, we willingly join their journey into a darkness often called "negative" or "evil". Through haunting (at times) vocals and music, 49 Burning Condors forces us to become a part of that darkness. Find our way through it / close our eyes / experience it as part of life / universe.
On the lighter side: 49 Burning Condors easily made one list Velvet Rouge introduced me to. Philadelphia original, indie rock bands re-invent / re-create an entire music genre. They are one of the bands who rewrite the rules of music and, at times, what we consider reality.
