affordable art fair
Attending / covering Affordable Art Fair Spring 2023, extremely impressed; even after checking out website. Fall 2023, again, exceeded all expectations. Affordable Art Fair is not only focused on displaying / selling art. Primary focus: providing best possible experience for everyone. Highlights in no order of importance / only attending 1 day.
Main reason Fall 2023 topped Spring? Maybe I have been to a few too many interactive exhibits. I look for artists that make creations come off the 2d space. Artists that give life to their creations. Artists who create new limits / boundaries. Fall 2023 had more of this type. 2 holograph type of females. When walking past they went from clothed to true artistic nude. Another gallery: Looking straight on, appeared 2d. Moving from side to side: 3d coming off canvas illusion. Only a few examples of what I experienced.
1st highlight: it is a 2-level maze, literally. Even if you check / have map, easy to get turned around. Not a bad thing in the slightest. After a few laps on both floors: "How did I miss that???" "Why didn't I notice that before???" Not joking, my experience and reactions. Did around 3 hours there. Every time I walked around, found new creations / paintings / sculptures.
2nd highlight: Galleries / Artists from around the world. Several galleries from New York City spread out over 2 levels. Mixed in, galleries / artists from other states and countries. 2 personal favs were from a gallery in Korea. Canda / France / United Kingdom other examples.
#3 on the list: You need to spend a few hours here at least. When you need a break, places to sit down / relax. Lower level had coffee / food. Upper level: Bar with alcohol / non-alcoholic beverages.
Every day had something different: Preview Night / Art After Dark (6 to 9 Friday for Adults) / Sunday Stroller Hours in morning. Spring 2024, seriously have to attend Art After Dark.
An amazing staff ready to answer questions, including navigation, is a major factor. Security is always huge with me. They were always visible, not intruding. In other words, ready if something happened. Did not interfere with everyone having an excellent experience.
Variety of Galleries / Artists, Different Themes, Staff, Security, Location and more. Contributing to major reason for visiting New York City / Spring 2024. Before I forget one important part: Have kids? Bring them along! I noticed families and children having a great time!
