Art show to a serious next level
Simple version: Art Expo NYC is a serious maze of artists / galleries from around the world. Pretty much think of a genre, they have it covered. 2 floors of Pier 36 with an interesting split. Top floor: Jason Perez Art Collective. Loved this section! Modern / abstract / street art highlighted floor 2. Plus, an interactive exhibit at the end.
Long Version / review:
The next level part? What I look for with artists / galleries. Something new / different / modern day / 2020's. In other words, re-invent the term "art" / create new limits with imagination. Create the rules / styles future generations will follow. I remember speaking with Joe Stublick (artist). He combines multiple styles / genres to form a new one. Another artist created an entire story with her creations. Distinctly remember this conversation. I looked at one of her works, gave my interpretation. Her reply: What the photo was about.
The serious maze? View the photos, kind of self-explanatory here. You need a mall / google maps not to get lost on floor 1. Believe me, this is a very high compliment. Another benefit here: Between the maze / artists / galleries, it creates a different reality. One of the few events I walked outside and thought: Oh yeah, real world does exist.
Taking into account everyone's budget / amount you could spend here: Try to support these incredible artists / creators. I bought 2 small paintings for gifts. Could have dropped over 100k easily, very serious here. One painting could have easily spent $15k on and not even thought about it. This should give you a clear idea of level / talent Art Expo NYC features / attracts. When looking at prices, remember a few things. Even artists have to deal with inflation / high prices. Cost of creating a work of art / time / cost to be at an event like this one for starters. The behind the scenes would amaze you.
When I said every genre / style you could imagine... I was surprised / caught off guard by a few. Reminding us the human body is true art and open for interpretation by artist / photographer. Ava Johnson (digital artist) re-defining abstract art. You experience true art from different cultures around the world (Japanese / African / definitely remember Ukraine and many more). MDAX fucking blew me away! Going back to creating new limits, MDAX sets a new definition and terms for that area / paragraph!!!!
Art Expo NYC is a great way for you and kids to explore / learn about art in it's almost limitless forms. Above reasons plus conversations with artists / gallery owners provide an education you can't learn in school / books / internet. This might give you / your kids a push to try something new, even as a hobby. Learned as kid, never paint or draw (zero talent). It did give me some inspiration to continue evolving as a digital artist in 3d.
Before I forget: You will probably need a break in the multiple hours spent here. First year I covered this figured an hour; 4 hours later I left. This year, I learned 3 hours and felt like I missed several things / aspects. Lead photo shows one place to take a short break for food / beverages / breather. Plus a food truck outside helps (long line when I arrived).
