As You Are: It does not get more real or honest than this film.
Starting off with Millie and Piper in a park having a conversation, quickly evolves into learning about each other on a much deeper level. During next 2 scenes, they share why they have been holding back. Reminding us of how past experiences with other people affect our future interactions, on every level.
Watching the film, I was reminded of experiences growing up. Being an outsider / made fun of / creating walls to keep people at a distance / being afraid to let anyone in. Believing outcome will always be the same.
I loved the artistic way (no color) it was filmed and presented. Showing how life / relationships are not black and white but almost always a gray area. How almost nothing is simple. How we rarely try to look beyond the surface of people. Even when we have known them for a long time. How we sometimes fear being honest with our partner due to not knowing their response.
We can easily relate to both characters. See ourselves in Millie and Piper. Maybe not literally, they force us to remember past experiences. Force us to take an honest and hard look at ourselves.
