Banksy Was here / philadelphia

Picture
Walked past exhibit multiple times caught my attention. Social media posts raised this exhibit up priority list. Jan 21: planning trip still undecided. Checked website again, let's do it. Purchased VIP for around $56. Might as well review full experience.

Website / social media are not even close to full experience. Right off: Worth VIP ticket price. Expecting your typical gallery style exhibit (paintings on walls / walk through). 1st room: immersive 180-degree experience. At times, not only felt part of it. End of this experience: felt like art was looking at me. Like situation was flipped. Hopefully you know what I mean.

Banksy Was Here is larger than I thought, especially on second floor (like a maze). Approximate time start to finish: 80 - 90 minutes. I have experienced VR before. This was one of the most immersive I have experienced. Actually, moved my leg when a pole was approaching. Tip: look around, not only straight ahead. You will miss a lot.

Safety tip: If flashing lights bother you, there were a few seconds in 1st room. It will catch you off guard.

Banksy Was Here worth price? Definitely. While not completely agreeing with artist. It will give you a different perspective on what defines street art / graffiti. Be prepared to spend some time here. Originally planned quick walk-through. Yeah, that was a good idea. Spend extra $ on VIP experience. VR part alone easily worth it.
