Memorial Day 2023:
Service on Battleship New Jersey (different article). Taking a tour very high on priority list. "I am here with time to burn, let's do it!" Thought the New Jersey was big from outside. Walking onto main deck, greeted by 2 staff members explaining how self-guided tour worked. Mental Note: Next time I take a tour of large ship, get the map!!!!!! It was a great experience / different colored lines guided you through the ship. Each color represented a different section (engine / weapons room, navigation, you get the picture). If you don't, scroll down... Inside the ship, photo op at every turn, 10 feet at times.
Personal Note: When I stepped on the ship both times, all I could think about was the history and everything the ship / crews have been through. Walking around, trying to imagine what a sailor's life was like. Great respect for the part of history I was experiencing.
