Technically, after halloween...

Due to weather, postponed 1 week. Even though it was after Halloween, children / adults in costume and celebrating start of holiday season! Several years since I have covered / been to this one. Kicking off at Rose Garden (West Broad / 8th ave.), reminded Bethlehem knows how to do a parade.

Freedom High School 1st up with bagpipes. Followed by a great balance of floats / people marching / school bands / performers. You didn't know what to expect next. Talked with an officer, felt like I was at a parade in Philadelphia.

Parade was approx. 45 minutes non-stop. Temps dropping through day, didn't stop the large crowd from enjoying every minute. Or children / parents from trying to get every last piece of candy. Hey, one of the best parts of Halloween. Didn't take into account shade or slight breeze. Short sleeves had me cold by the 15-minute mark. Fingers that rapidly freeze, couldn't feel button on Cannon, lesson learned!

Halloween is official start of holiday edition. This year, something new traditional (Bethlehem) / walking, community feel (Roosevelt Island) parades. New record: 2 Halloween parades / 2 states / 2 weekends. One reason I always love this job!
