Betsy Ross house
Normally, I avoid reviewing tourist attractions, especially during the holidays. You can find more than enough reviews / information online. After 6 years, needed to start covering Philadelphia for Halloween! On a tight schedule, checked out Franklin Square in advance. Tack on Betsy Ross House and you have a great combo price. 1st time visiting Betsy Ross House.
Check out everything in advance. Self-guided tour / presentation after. Everyone did a great job setting a Halloween mood. Woman in period costume welcomed you. Walking through the house, every room had 2 candles with information about the house / Betsy Ross. Kind of a spoiler: this was not your "Halloween ghost story experience". It was far more horrific, seriously.
The tour / presentation covered real horror. A person dying in the house. Medical procedures in the 18th century (leeches / healing / etc.). Glad I have ability to shut down visualization part of my brain. Speaker was perfect combination of humor / serious fact. Humor: he combined history w/ modern day.
Overall, if you are looking for paranormal side of Philadelphia, not really recommended. Can't recommend Betsy Ross House presentation for small children. Looking for true horror based on fact? This needs to be added to the tour! In case you are wondering, did feel "something" on 2nd floor of the house. Not really ominous / evil. There was a different feeling to the 2nd floor. Even though other people were in the rooms.
