After covering 2 fashion shows (NYFW February / September 2023), seriously looked forward to the gala. Fashion is a main aspect, BreakFree Foundation's events are always much more. The gala created an entirely new level. Speakers / Inspired Talks / Excellent DJ / Awards Show / Open Panel Discussion / Networking Hour combined to make this a very memorable evening / event. Sanctuary at Roosevelt Island? Literally perfect place. Weather was a gorgeous autumn evening. The Black-Tie Creative part, had to ask Alexandra about meaning. Here is my definition, add in light blue denim jacket:

Theme: Walk Your Talk
One part of BreakFree Foundation I love: You are welcome as your real self. Without going into details, always had to maintain an illusion living in Lehigh Valley. NYC and BreakFree's events, I can drop the illusion and relax. Instead of only talking about who you are, show it. Your true style / confidence / flaws / life experiences. Honestly, wanted to get into more conversations. It was a long day / turning into long week / month. I was enjoying the view and time to slow down / breathe. One effect the gala / Roosevelt Island had on me.
Side note: Looking at other guests, felt a little underdressed. Thanks to Alexandra / a few conversations, reminded me of theme. This is who I am, back it up every minute. If this gives you an idea of gala priority level, 1st time I wore a tie in 16 years.
Gala overall:
First gala / formal event for any of my media (Valley / ValeCity / FireCity). Again, BreakFree Foundation topped every expectation. Checking description, expected what I see in media / social media. Stuffy / formal / strict timeline / upper class (hopefully, you get the point). Reality: exact opposite. Yes, it was on a timeframe like most events. Relaxed, informal, focus on everyone having a good time atmosphere. BreakFree Foundation has a unique way of conveying what the organization is about without being forceful / jamming down your throat. Another way the gala was at a new level.
One thing I have learned about BreakFree Foundation's events: Equal emphasis is placed on every aspect. The gala seriously expanded on this point, example: Open Discussion about Recovering Out Loud. NYFW is top of priority list for FireCity Illusion. BreakFree Foundation has earned being included in that #1 spot.
Unfortunately, had to bail before Open Discussion / Awards. Honestly, couldn't find a hotel in Manhattan under $400. 2024: When date is announced, immediately reserve hotel room. Very curious about next year's theme.
As I stated in advance article / told Alexandra: Walk Your Talk can inspire everyone, regardless of what they are going through / life experiences. It reminded me to always prove my words with the way I live.
