Break Free Foundation Fashion Show / NYFW Fall 2023
Introduced to Break Free Foundation covering NYFW Spring Fashion Show. After attending / covering their Fall Fashion Show / speaking with Alexandra (founder), FireCity Illusion fully supports the organization. Planning on attending / covering the 1st Annual Gala.
The Gala is more than a fashion show. Panels / discussions / walk the red carpet highlighting the "Walk Your Talk" theme. Side note: Dress Code. I had to ask Alexandra what Creative Black Tie meant. Explained my experience: tie / dress shirt / dress jeans / new sneakers. Was not sure if it met requirements. 2 weeks to go, still trying to figure out how to do the creative part. Thankfully, she did not give a strange look / no problem explaining.
Back to "Walk Your Talk"... This part grabbed my attention the most. Even though the gala is about people who recover / don't hide anything. I noticed a broader meaning including personal. The general / almost vague theme can be inspiration for anyone, myself included. No personal details, I used to hide in crowds. Trying to be unnoticed. For the past several years, have the attitude: This is who I am. Not perfect by a long shot. I try to prove it in my actions / way I present myself. The theme has further inspired me.
More than a fashion show. This aspect is a key part of the gala. If it is like their NYFW shows, every aspect will be given equal priority. Speakers reaching us on a more personal level. A lot of fun / time to relax with mocktail hour / networking. Music performances (always a top priority for me). What is a great fashion show / gala without great music? Opportunity to walk the red carpet. All combine to make their 1st Annual Gala a very unique event. And an evening you will long remember.
