NYFW is #1 on event list, Break Free Foundation is top event for NYFW.
Break Free Foundation's events are always a top priority for FireCity Illusion. Fashion shows focus on more than models / clothing. February 2024 NYFW event included a few surprises. February 2023 NYFW was first Break Free Fashion show, leading to first aspect I love about their events.
Introducing you to different places / venues in NYC. 3 fashion shows covered were at different locations (This one: Prince George Ballroom). First Annual Gala introduced me to Roosevelt Island. Providing you with a fresh / can't wait to experience this one attitude.
Every fashion show has the basics: models / runway / unique and interesting creations. Break Free's shows include more / different aspects. Feb 2024: art exhibit and section to place butterflies for survivors of suicide (attempted / affected by someone else). Giving hope to others.
Mocktail Hour / Networking: Break Free's Mocktail hour is a perfect way to meet people / relax before main event. Also enjoy other aspects of event, art exhibit featuring incredible works for Feb 2024. Honestly, I could barely tell difference between mocktail / regular cocktail. Plus, with no alcohol, decreases chances of incident happening. Lehigh Valley PA events can learn a lot here. Almost every event in that area one main focus is alcohol. Trust me on this one, live in the area.
Fashion show: Break Free places equal focus is on entire aspect and event. Always including a wide variety from everyday / street wear to "This is wild, I want it, will figure out an event to wear it." Designers don't focus on the thin / perfect model type. This show included Big Man Culture, I know someone who fits into that category. Told him about the designer. Feb 2024 one highlight: Dmarxx Design. Fashion is not only clothes / shoes, handbags / clutches draw attention to what you are wearing. In addition to obvious reasons...
During the show: speakers / announcers / musical performances are important. I don't care how much you are into fashion / any topic. A straight-forward / one designer to the next can have a zone out factor. Where things can feel like they are repetitive, exciting but repetition factor. Break Free Foundation eliminates that possibility. Especially with speakers between designers, keeps your attention focused on runway.

Important aspect of any Break Free Foundation event: Equal focus is placed on everyone. Especially evident in program, they bring attention to how important "behind the scenes" people are to an event (makeup / making sure models are ready / bartenders / security and more.)
Even if it is 1st time you are attending one of their fashion shows / events, you feel like an important part of it. Covered their 1st annual gala. Seriously, never been to a gala before, a little nervous about being under-dressed / not knowing what to expect. Immediately was able to relax and blend in. Plus, never a bad seat / viewing point!
Break Free has a way of conveying their message / mission without being overbearing. Combination of all event elements draw attention to the organization / addiction recovery in subtle, more powerful way.
Break Free Foundation has full support of FireCity Illusion / founder Michael Phoenix. Hopefully, will be a sponsor of their September 2024 show. I am very specific about what FireCity will support / become involved with.
Very special Thank You to Alexandra Nyman / everyone at Break Foundation. Everyone who made their February NYFW event incredible! Security is always huge with me with anything, thanks for making it a very safe event. Even if fashion is not your thing (didn't know a single thing about this topic before February 2023), plan on attending one of Break Free's shows. It is amazing what your future can be regardless of your past. Break Free Foundation seriously shows what is possible.
