times square
Ok, Times Square, one of the most over-rated tourist traps in NYC (possibly the world). 2022 was my 1st time in NYC / Christmas Eve. Wanted to take focus away from ball drop / do something different. Video article / midnight / Christmas Eve / 3-degree wind chill, no joke.
2023 Christmas Eve: Back to NYC. Had a few articles for holiday edition. Bryant Park, I know, cover it way too much. Wanted to find out how busy it was. Times Square a remote option. Around 11:40 (Bryant Park packed still packed around 11:30), what the fuck, why not? Had no idea about the crowd.
Temps in the 40's, didn't even need gloves. Could not believe how packed Times Square was! Main reason I love NYC Christmas Eve / Day. Places open / people around / a few great conversations. Honestly, something magical about the city Christmas Eve. Like right out of a Hallmark / Lifetime holiday movie. 2 years experience on this topic.
If you don't feel like dealing with impossible crowd / insanity of Times Square New Year's Eve, highly recommend experiencing Christmas Eve at midnight. Crowd depends on weather / temps. Can't really describe it, walking away, turned around for a last look. Almost like I wanted to remember it for the rest of my life. I don't do the past or memories.

bryant park
11:20 - 11:40 p.m. Christmas Eve 2023:
Bryant Park is always one of my favorite places in NYC, especially during holiday season. Not tired in the slightest, repeat 2022, Bryant Park then Times Square at midnight. Bryant Park packed with people, vendors open, everyone celebrating the holiday. At one point, I even allowed a ghost of Christmas past to return. Looked up: "Merry Christmas Lori, wish you were here with me."
