fan expo philadelphia
Fan Expo Philadelphia is in the very rare category of starting at the top and going straight up. Receiving the first media release, I was extremely impressed. Pennsylvania Convention Center provides a centralized location for the event. What impressed me most: It extends to highlight the city. After Hours events take you into downtown and Federal Donuts is a great place for energy before / during the expo. Every year, they reach out and prove local community is a very important aspect.
Now for what you will experience, plan on an entire day here you will need it...
Personally, I always do a straight line for Artist Alley especially all the indie creators. Check out the very long list under Exhibitors here. It will be very hard to maintain any form of budget. Going down the list, a few caught my serious attention. Mental note: At least 2 hours between Artist Alley and Vendors / Exhibitors. Main area I could drop the cash without even thinking about it. Love to support them!
Let me guess, what about Celebrities / Guests? Another area for some tough choices. Celebrities from a very wide range of TV / Movies (Star Wars / National Lampoon's Vacation reunion / Saved by the Bell for starters). Comic Creators / Voice Actors and actresses / Gaming stars and more highlight this part. Honestly, I could easily spend $200 here.
Fan Expo Philadelphia offers so much more. A gaming area with video / tabletop games to experience. Want a tattoo? You are covered (forgive bad pun). Guests / Tattoo Artists for the list and how to schedule an appointment in advance. Community Zone / Family Zones offer a little break (much needed, especially on Saturday).
Fan Expo Philadelphia is a very short list for any of my media. From the moment I leave, can't wait for next year! It is earned by a combination of several elements. Primarily placing equal focus on all aspects. Prices low enough for a family to attend without killing the budget (at least for admission), no promises when you walk in / explore. Depends on what you are into / want to experience. 2 weeks out (as of this article), excitement is building to experience how it is continuing to evolve. Advance special thanks to everyone involved for what I know will be an incredible experience!
