Gov. Cox issues call for a Special Session
SALT LAKE CITY (May 5, 2023) – Utah Gov. Spencer Cox has called the Utah Legislature into Special Session to address three items that require immediate legislative action:
On April 18, 2023, the governor declared a State of Emergency to address flooding in Utah communities. Because risks of flooding, landslides, mudslides and other impacts from this winter’s record-breaking snowmelt continue, Gov. Cox is asking the Legislature to extend the State of Emergency.
He’s also asking the Legislature to reallocate funds to address the costs of snow removal, flooding, flood response and mitigation.
Finally, he is asking the Legislature to consider amendments to House Bill 225, Firearm Possession Amendments.
