Governor Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions
LANSING, Mich. — Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced appointments to the Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development.

David Williams, of Elsie, is a farm manager for W Farms LLC, formerly known as David Williams Farm. He attended Michigan State University and worked for a short while at a railroad in Chicago before returning to the family farm. He was recognized in 2017 as a Master Farmer for his many years of agricultural ambassadorship and land stewardship. Williams has previously served as president of the Michigan Soybean Association and as the Director of the United Soybean Board. Mr. Williams is appointed to represent Independents, for a term commencing March 14, 2023 and expiring December 31, 2026. He succeeds Charlie Meintz whose term has expired.
Dr. Felicia Wu, of Okemos, is a John A. Hannah distinguished professor at Michigan State University, working in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition and the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics. She holds an A.B. and S.M. in Applied Mathematics & Medical Sciences from Harvard University, and a Ph.D. in Engineering & Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. She is a widely recognized expert in food science, serving on the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) Scientific Advisory Committee on Livestock Food Security and Nutrition and the Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) of the FAO and World Health Organization. Professor Wu is appointed to represent Independents, for a term commencing March 14, 2023 and expiring December 31, 2026. She succeeds Patricia Bergadhl whose term has expired.
The Michigan Commission of Agriculture and Rural Development provides oversight and executive direction for the programs of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and approves the rules and regulations the department promulgates.
These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
