Green eggs cafe / Philadelphia
Jan 22, 2023:
You are looking at one of the most UNIQUE breakfasts' I have ever had. Arriving in Philly, heading to my usual stop, walked past Green Eggs Cafe (18th St. location), again...
Normally, line is almost to sidewalk. This place has been on my list for 5 years. Due to lines, never felt like waiting. No line, why not try it and something new? Definitely worth the wait!!!!
Very impressive / excellent staff from moment I walked in. Important note: Green Eggs Cafe is cash only! Perfect for me, preferring to pay that way. Expecting a higher end restaurant, layout first surprise.
2 levels with a bar (diner style) for main room. Requested a table / seated immediately. Breakfast menu: not huge but enough choices to fit anyone's hunger. Originally figuring on standard (eggs / meat / potatoes / toast). Peach Cobbler Stuffed Empanadas? We have the food part of breakfast!!!! Normally, alcohol before 5 is too early for me. Could not resist Apple Cider Mimosa (never heard of it before). Both pictured above.
When it comes to food, I am basic. Never concerned about appearance. Your body needs it, you eat it. Long as it tastes good / preferably good value. Breakfast hit on both points. Empanadas were perfect / very filling (couldn't finish peaches). Apple Cider Mimosa: unique flavor / apple garnish nice / cinnamon rimmed definitely perfect.
Walking back to restroom: another larger section for tables / seating. Green Eggs Cafe seriously hit big on all points. Between $17 - $18 for breakfast. Not an everyday thing, worth it. Taste: Excellent! Empanadas: great flavor combination. Mimosa: definitely unique / great compliment to food. Perfect for reminding me of autumn (in winter). Atmosphere: Think of local diner combined with mid-range restaurant. Staff: Excellent! Friendly / professional / personal attention to each guest. Looking forward to my next visit: later in day (want to try a burger). Seriously place Green Eggs Cafe (18th St. location if possible) on your "must stop" list for Philadelphia. Scroll down for video review / photo.
