The Hole
On the short list of "I can't wait for this one!" Horroripulation did not disappoint in the slightest.
I am more of a psychological horror person. One reason I couldn't wait for this one. Artists in this exhibit prove the genre has many definitions. From grotesque creatures to illusions only created in our nightmares. Alternate realities with images / illusions beyond description. Even the simple shadow or "bump in the night". Individual creations capture and merge different aspects of the genre. Keeping everything at PG / PG-13 level. There is another interesting aspect about this exhibit...
Timing: The dead of winter. Especially with long, cold nights / snow and ice / everyone staying inside. Few horror movies highlight this aspect. I mentioned this to someone at exhibit opening. Horroripulation has the perfect effect here. Even in a city like New York, walking around after sunset, shadows and sounds can play with your mind.
If you stop by this exhibit, take your time. Allow your mind / imagination to wander on the darker edge. Definitely will be surprised what these artists can do there.
