House Passes Four Bipartisan Small Business Bills to Help Main Street America
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, The U.S. House of Representatives passed four small business bills favorably under suspension out of the chamber.
H.R. 4480, the Successful Entrepreneurship for Reservists and Veterans Act – sponsored by Reps. Alford (MO-04), Davids (KS-03), and LaLota (NY-01).
This bill seeks to identify barriers to entry faced by Veterans when starting a new business and directs the Interagency Task Force on Veterans Small Business Development to create an action plan to improve outreach to Veterans.
H.R. 4670, the Small Business Contracting Transparency Act of 2023 – sponsored by Reps. Stauber (MN-08), Houlahan (PA-06), Scholten (MI-03), and Tenney (NY-24).
This bill ensures the SBA is meeting its requirements and brings much needed insight into the certification process for small businesses to be considered as such in contracting.
H.R. 4668, the POST IT Act of 2023 – sponsored by Reps. Molinaro (NY-19), Scholten (MI-03), LaLota (NY-01), and Davis (NC-01).
This bill makes it easier for small businesses to track constantly changing agency guidelines by requiring them to post their guidance, and all subsequent changes on how to comply, in a centralized location on the SBA’s National Ombudsman’s website.
H.R. 5427, to prohibit any individuals convicted of defrauding the Government from receiving any assistance from the Small Business Administration – sponsored by Reps. Williams (TX-25), Mfume (MD-07), and Bean (FL-04).
This bill holds fraudsters accountable by ensuring that those convicted of defrauding the government can never receive SBA financial assistance again.
