Franklin Square / philadelphia
6 p.m. December 31, 2022 / Philadelphia, PA: Everyone at Franklin Square joined people in Berlin Germany (+ everyone in that time zone) welcoming the New Year.
Franklin Square did a countdown / Square Drop at 6 p.m. for families / kids. Makes perfect sense, other cities / towns do the same thing. Why should kids / families / adults who crash early New Year's Eve be left out?
Franklin Square is what I call the "Family Square". New Year's Eve: Kids could ride the carousel / Chilly Golf (miniature golf) was open. Every 1/2 hour a wild fountain light show. Thankfully, temps were in the 40's! Time did not matter to everyone there. 1 minute before 6 (midnight Berlin time), lights went out. 10 seconds started the countdown... Get the rush 3 days later typing this.
Franklin Square was not the only part of Philadelphia celebrating with Berlin time zone. Unfortunately, could not make it. The city had wild fireworks show at the waterfront!!! Heard it trying to make Penn's Landing. Have experienced 4th of July fireworks in Philadelphia. The city goes huge at major holidays!
