new york art expo
Entering Pier 36, looked around: "Okay, where do I start????" NYC Art Expo far exceeded any expectations I had. Basically, 1st floor was almost a maze, literally. Did 2 laps / found more galleries / artists as I was doing video review. Literally, artists / galleries from around the world (S. Korea / France / Canada / London a few examples). Almost every genre you could think of / imagine. This is just on floor 1! Floor 2 is a slightly different story.
2nd floor pretty much dedicated to street / abstract styles and art. Pretty much my fav styles / genres. Not a maze, easily worth the time. Especially with the very cool artists / creations. A few (on both floors) I could relate to from personal life / experience. Sometimes, best kind of art.
When I said almost every genre you could think of, meant it. One artist did 3d (kind of old style). May be dating myself here. Remember when a 3d image had to be tilted to get a motion effect? You got it! Only you had to move side to side for the effect.
New York Art Expo easily lived up to marketing / hype in almost every area. Actually had the time to explore (about 2 hours). Trust me, you will easily need that much just walking around. There was a serious complaint I heard outside at the food cart, I agree with it. For some reason, art shows / openings and alcohol are synonymous. Hey, no complaints from me. At an expo / show the size of New York Art Expo, you need to balance it with more food. The could have been some small spaces to grab a quick bite inside. Check the link, 2024 dates are posted. Do not miss this event! Remember, even if you can't afford to financially support some of your favorite artists, there are other ways. Lead image is my favorite at the Expo.
