playcrafting
Play NYC is always a top event for FireCity Illusion. 2024: Playcrafting's mini expos returned to Microsoft building on 41st and 8th avenue!!!! Reason for excitement? Read on or check video review.
Play NYC (main, annual event): The Premiere event for indie game developers. One of the premiere events for people who love gaming (video / tabletop). Mini expos? Great way to check out games. Play NYC, especially on Saturday, can get packed quick! I at the mini expo for over 2 hours (planned on 1). Easily had the chance to speak with a majority of developers. Even played a few games.
Main drawback which is also a huge plus: It was on Monday. Kind of reducing out area crowd. Reason this is also a huge plus, less people more time checking out games. Learning about the developers. Providing feedback for improving their games. Almost every game was in one stage of development.
Mini expo covered a wide range of genres. I remember one reminded me of the movie Serenity. Another made me think of Mad Max / a little Doom thrown in. Great tabletop game for New Yorkers (or those familiar with the city). A horror game I wanted to check out. A few I remembered from Play NYC 2023.
Even if you are not a gamer, Play NYC's events are for everyone. Mini expos are not different from main event in one area. If you are there for an extended period of time, need a break. Plus Playcrafting creates another reality with mini expos (like Play NYC). Seriously, stop by mini expo if you are in NYC. I think they will be 4 times this year. It will give you a great idea of Play NYC (minus huge crowd / multi-hour adrenaline rush). Please don't forget to bring family and kids. Play NYC is in the top 5 events every year for FireCity Illusion between Philadelphia / NYC.
