Rockefeller center
After visiting St. Patrick's Cathedral, figured why not? For some reason always find Rockefeller by accident. Even though I believe it is a seriously over-rated tourist trap during the holidays, wanted to include it. Learned a very valuable lesson.
Seriously, large crowds don't phase me in the slightest. Definitely glad to be out of that one. Visit: Saturday evening, December 17.
I love Winter Village / Bryant Park. After a few visits, theme of white lights (including tree) reminds me too much of small-town Bethlehem, PA (Over-rated / nothing but white lights). Colored lights on Rockefeller Tree a welcome relief. Honestly, impressed with tree / ice skating rink / what I could see of Rockefeller Center.
Downside to visiting on weekend evening: Between Rockefeller / Saks light show, crowd was very tight. To the point where all you could do is move with it. Think of a strong current and trying to fight it. At points (especially when trying to get close to tree / ice rink) felt like crowd was slightly crushing. Intelligence / common sense are not always the rule with my media. Was crazy enough to make my way to the rink.
Realize there is no way around it, next year: cover Rockefeller / Saks light show earlier in season / during the week. Scroll down for video review / photos / 1st person experience.
