Curious about Rockefeller Center crowds after holiday season. Talked with a few New Yorkers (love / respect) for help. @ Bryant Park, spoke with a gentleman at info booth. Decided to give it a shot / review. Saturday before Christmas Eve 2022: only time in my life was ever glad to be out of a crowd!
Time to burn in evening / top priorities down / completely different scene, timed it perfectly! Spoke with security guard, last night for tree. After New Year's Day is best time to visit, even on weekend evenings. Still a crowd, no problems moving around. Walked through entire area without a problem. Bonus: able to get right up to fence, look up at tree (see photos).
Seriously, especially if you have kids / don't like large crowds: Plan the trip starting New Year's Day. Yes, during holiday season is great / magical to see this iconic place / tree. Good luck getting good photos / video / etc. Check Archives / Holiday Edition. I was crazy enough to push through to ice rink. Scroll down for photos.
