Roosevelt Island's Halloween Extravaganza was 2nd part of a great way to kick off holiday edition! Part 1: their Halloween Parade. Between the 2, a true community feel / reminded me of being a kid again. Grew up in a small town, ok, Roosevelt Island is part of NYC. Both events had that relaxed, everyone having a great time, celebrating Halloween feel to it. Hope you get the idea.
Food, beverages (finally had a great apple cider), different things for kids / families to do. All contributed to that sense of community and "you belong here" feel. Oh, nature seriously helped. Temps around 80 / sunny / not humid.
Between 1st visit earlier that week / Halloween Extravaganza, Roosevelt Island is a definite stop when I have a few hours to relax in NYC. Definitely recommend taking the ferry. Have your camera ready on the island and ferry. Will be making a return trip in December adding to holiday edition. Special Thanks to everyone involved!
