Silver haze (trailer)
One line that hit home with me: "Franky, everyone makes mistakes. Let go of that ball of anger."
After viewing media release, this is one film that will hit you on a deeper level. Silver Haze focuses on the relationship between Franky (nurse) and Florence (patient / attempted suicide). Both survived severe, traumatic, experiences. Both come from completely opposite family experiences. Franky: uptight / socially correct, Florence: We care who you are, not what you are.
Going off media release / trailer:
Silver Haze is a film most people can relate to in their personal lives. It will bring back ghosts of your past, especially if you survived a traumatic experience. Instead of opening old wounds / scars. It will help you heal them.
Better explanation: I have a strict rule to keep personal out of my media. Silver Haze is an exception. 2007 - 2010, I survived a few of those experiences. 2 of them, I could not forgive myself for. Both, I had zero control over. Survived a violent crime. Hated myself for being a coward during the attack. Not having courage to report to police. Believed I was responsible for anyone they attacked after it happened. Reason why "Let go of that ball of anger." hit home.
Silver Haze provides us with an honest / raw experience that goes beyond film or a story. Writing this review, have chills from combination of life experience / film trailer.
Reasons Silver Haze has me on the edge / can't wait to review:
- What happened in Florence's past to make her attempt suicide?
- One scene: "Why do you think you're a bad person?" "Because I am." A PERFECT immersion factor.
- Overall character development, especially how Franky changes in one area. "I just want to meet a normal guy." to falling in love with Florence.
- Raw power of the film. The way it evolves from a story about 2 people to hitting you on an unexpected / deep / personal level.
This is only what I could think of in under 1 minute.
Before I forget, technical side. Have to include note about actresses.
Vicky Knight (Franky) / Esme Creed-Miles (Florence) go way beyond playing the roles. They take "believability factor" to an entirely new level. Instead of "Ok, great acting / this is a movie" you immediately become absorbed in their stories. Truly feel their emotions / lives / experiences. A reaction I rarely have with any film. Almost, to the point where you question if Vicky and Esme drew off live experiences.
