St. Patrick's cathedral
Visited St. Patrick's Cathedral twice (2017 / 2018 I think...). Didn't have a chance for full experience / walking around. December 17, 2022, made the time. St. Patrick's is incredible from outside. Walking in, breathtaking seriously. You really can't even come close to the beauty unless you walk to the front. Experience some hidden surprises.
Personal note: Born / raised Roman Catholic (St. Peter's Church / Coplay, PA.). Stopped believing early 20's (30 years ago). Walking around St. Patrick's time jumped me to St. Peter's when I was a kid. $2 donation, lit a candle. Chapel behind altar (front of cathedral): entered / genuflected / knelt down / said a prayer. The self-guided tour brought back ghosts I thought were buried, forever. Have not done anything close to this since early 20's. Considering attending evening mass Christmas Eve.
Take the time to walk around, crowd thins out past entrance / exit. Several hidden / not that obvious statues / spots are waiting. Strong suggestion: visit during holiday season (Thanksgiving - Christmas). Bring the family / kids. Photos are permitted except in front chapel. Noticed a lot of portraits / selfies.
